Number Seventy Two opened in November 2007.
Our building is approximately 600 years old, and before now the shop was a paint-a-pot studio, card and book shop. Prior to that it was a bike shop for many years.
How it all began
The Family and Community Network was a long held vision of the trustees. This began to develop in 2004, resulting in us taking on the property in North Street as a base in 2007.
The vision was to provide support to families of all kinds as they encounter the normal ‘highs and lows’ of parenting and family life. We have built a team to address the various issues that arise, so that specialist services may be offered together under one roof.
Many parents in the Sudbury area have said how much they value the opportunity to think and talk about the task of parenting. “It is a closing door of opportunity” says family speaker Rob Parsons.
The work has grown consistently year on year, particularly since we have been at our current base at 72 North Street.
Feedback from our users indicates that we are achieving the original aim of providing easily accessed support and friendship to families. Many express the difference this has made in their lives.
